Sara Carlson, a Compeer mentor, secured a grant from her place of employment, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, to help offset expenses for mentor match activities and to help with mentor recruitment recently.
Carlson said during a training session that she wanted to support Compeer in addition to mentoring and took the initiative to submit a grant request from Enterprise.
Compeer director, Jann Ball, said, “Sara is an example of the caring and committed mentors that provide the power of supportive friendships to youth striving for better mental health.”
Compeer mentoring serves as a bridge to enhanced wellness and community integration for those with social and emotional barriers.
